Karen Adam MSP welcomes £9 million food and drink investment and urges local businesses to seize opportunity
Karen Adam MSP for Banffshire and Buchan Coast has welcomed the opening of applications for the Food and Drink Processing Scheme Scotland, encouraging local businesses to apply and take advantage of the new funding.
The £9 million investment from the Scottish Government will offer match-funded capital grants of up to £400,000 to support projects that improve productivity, increase efficiency, and invest in new equipment and technology.
Banffshire and Buchan Coast is home to a diverse and thriving food and drink sector, with world-class producers across seafood, meat, drinks, baking, whisky, and a growing craft brewing industry, all of which play a vital role in the local economy and community life.
Karen Adam MSP said:
“i am delighted to welcome' this significant investment from the SNP Scottish Government in Scotland’s food and drink sector, an industry that sits right at the heart of communities like ours here in Banffshire and Buchan Coast.”
“We are incredibly proud to be home to so many world class food processors, from our seafood sector and local butchers to bakers, distilleries, and craft brewers. These are businesses rooted in our communities, creating jobs, driving innovation, and putting our area on the map.”
“This funding is about backing that ambition, helping businesses grow, modernise, and build for the future. I would strongly encourage eligible businesses across Banffshire and Buchan Coast to apply and make the most of this opportunity.”
“The SNP is on your side, investing in local industry, supporting jobs, and ensuring that our communities share in Scotland’s economic success. Because when our local businesses thrive, our communities thrive too.”
The scheme is being delivered by Scotland Food & Drink and forms part of wider efforts to strengthen Scotland’s £19 billion food and drink industry, which supports over 17,000 businesses and around 115,000 jobs.
Applications are now open and businesses can find more information and apply online.
