Karen Adam MSP congratulates organisers ahead of second Glover Festival in Fraserburgh

Karen Adam MSP has welcomed the return of the Glover Festival in Fraserburgh, taking place on Saturday 14 June 2026, and congratulated the organisers, volunteers, sponsors and wider community whose efforts have made the event possible.

The festival celebrates the life and global contribution of Thomas Blake Glover, the Broch-born Scottish merchant and industrialist who played a key role in strengthening relations between Scotland and Japan during the nineteenth century. This year's festival will once again bring together local residents, visitors and international guests for a celebration of both Scottish and Japanese culture, with music, entertainment and community events taking place throughout the day.

Karen Adam MSP recently submitted a motion to the Scottish Parliament recognising the significance of the festival, thanking those involved in organising it and congratulating everyone contributing to its success.

Karen Adam MSP said: "I am delighted to be attending this year's Glover Festival and joining the community in celebrating another fantastic event.

"The festival is a showcase of some of Fraserburgh's finest talent and highlights the strong links between our local community and Japan.

"I want to congratulate and thank the Glover Committee and Fraserburgh Rotary Club for their hard work, dedication and commitment in organising the festival for a second year. I also want to recognise the support of Ocean Winds, Fraserburgh Fitness Centre, Trails and the wider community, whose contributions have helped make this event possible.

"I wish everyone involved every success for what promises to be a fantastic day for the Broch."

Cllr. Ann Bell MBE, Chair of the Glover Committee said: "I am delighted with all the support we are receiving enabling us to celebrate Glover and showcase the amazing talent we have in this area. Thanks to our committee for all their work in getting this event organised and to Fraserburgh Harbour for including the naming ceremony of the new Pilot boat “Glover” in our event and our event sponsor Ocean Winds – Moray East."

The festival will welcome distinguished guests including the Consul General of Japan, Katsutoshi Takeda, and the President of Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning Systems Europe, Mr Taro Hattori, demonstrating the international connections that Thomas Blake Glover helped to establish.

The Glover Festival will take place on Commerce Street in Fraserburgh on Saturday 14 June 2026, from 1pm to 4pm.
